Birregurra Festival and Art
Show October 11-13
Promises to be loads of fun with art, music, good food and
plenty of entertainment.
Art Show
The festival kicks off on Friday October 11 with the Birregurra
Art Show gala opening at 7.30pm in the Main Street Hall
Birregurra. The award show attracts entries from artists
throughout Victoria. All work is for sale, so it’s a great
chance to add to your collection. The show is also open each day
of the festival from 10am. Inquires (03) 5236 2156.
Market stalls
During the festival Birregurra’s main street transforms into a
vibrant marketplace with stalls selling all sorts of goodies,
ranging from handcrafts to organic produce and loads of garden
plants and displays.
There’s also plenty of action in the gourmet food and wine
precinct. Be tempted by the local produce including delicious
cheeses, ice-cream and locally grown olives. Sample offerings
from nearby wineries and breweries. Grab a pizza, some yummy
calamari or a little something from the chocolate fountain.
Expect surprises and great giveaways.

Entertainment
There’s always a myriad of entertainment at various venues
around town. The stirring sound of the Colac Pipe and Drums sets
the pace early on Saturday morning. Other highlights include
crowd-pleasers Tiffany Eckhardt and Dave Steel on the main stage
and performances by Tiffany’s Colac Song and Soup Choir.
Blues man Chris Wilson and Dave Steel are sure to be
entertaining on Sunday afternoon, as will the 100-member
community choir, Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Marsh.
Other musical highlights include One Black Rat, Driver and the
Otway Ukoholics. And during the weekend there’s also a full
program of Music at Christ Church in Sladen St, with local
musicians playing an eclectic program.

Dogs and more
Start training your pampered pooch for the ever-popular dog
jump. Heats are scheduled both days. But this year expect lots
more action to tempt your four-legged doggy friends. And on
Sunday see the expert woodchoppers.

Children and skate park
There is plenty to entertain the children. Face painting is
always a hit. Look out for the animal nursery, ride a camel,
enjoy the carnival rides or test your skills and climb the rock
wall. Don’t miss the action at the skate park with competitions
and demonstrations all weekend.

Other displays
Check out the classic cars and admire the work of clever
district wood turners. Visit the TAC’s Vanessa bus with all
sorts of information about partying, but safely.
